A Warren Park man today stood before the Harare Magistrates court on charges of attempted murder after he tried to kill his mother by beating her with a metal rod.
According to the state, Tawanda Mazibisa, aged 39, assaulted his mother, Slender Mazibisa with a metal rod leaving her with bodily injuries.
The allegations are that on the night of September 5, 2018, the complainant was having a mid-night prayer in her bedroom and the accused entered and started assaulting her for no apparent reason.
The state also heard that the accused continued assaulting his mother even after she ran out of the house to seek help and only stopped when he heard a vehicle approaching the house.
However Mazibisa denied the allegations saying he had no intentions of killing his mother. I
“I had no intention of killing her, I did not also beat her all over the body as alleged, I only beat her on the buttocks,” said Mazibisa while defending himself before the court.
Prosecutor Sebastian Mutizirwa argued opposed bail for the accused saying he was a danger and his charges were serious
The case was postponed to 26 September for trial.
