A 21 year old man was today sentenced to a 350-hour community service for stealing $5,000.
Lazarus Mushangani, who was involved in the unlawful act together with his brother Takesure Mushongani, pleaded guilty before Harare magistrate, Francis Mapfumo.
Lazarus was then slapped with a 350-hour community service at Mushongahande primary school.
The court heard that the two unscrupulously acquired $5,000, an offence which is serious and unlawful.
Magistrate Mapfumo told the court that Mushangani was supposed to be given a stiffer sentence but the court was lenient on him since he is young.
“You were suppose to be imprisoned for 15 months but the court took into consideration that this is your first offence, you are young. therefore you might have been influenced by your brother,” said magistrate Mapfumo
However, the verdict for Takesure was further remanded to 22 March 2016.
