Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Hon. Supa Mandiwanzira expressed disappointment on the TelOne financial results for the year ending 2016. Speaking to our 263Chat team in the above video interview, the minister said he was expecting TelOne to do better but however positively commented that the operational ground has been tough for every player considering how Over-the-Top Services have been eating into the telco industry’s revenue.
TelOne recorded a huge loss of US$25 million which the Communications and Client Experience Manager, Melody Harry attributed the decline in revenue to increased usage of Over the Top Services at the expense of traditional services such as voice.
