This was another exciting weekend on the sports arena with Dynamos banging their third win in a row while the hotshot Ngezi Platinum Stars played a nil all draw against Chapungu. Cristiano Ronaldo inspired Real Madrid to another milestone as they became the first team to win the Champions League back to back after demolishing Old Lady, Juventus 4-1.

Mapeza doubts Darikwa

Warriors’ interim coach Norman Mapeza appears to have snubbed Burnley defender, Tendai Darikwa, despite the England-based player confirming his availability for selection ahead of the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier match against Liberia in Harare this weekend.

United Kingdom-based, Marshall Gore who played the intermediary role said the Burnley defender has committed himself to playing for the Warriors.

The 27-year-old Darikwa, born in England to Zimbabwean parents, has never played for the Warriors

It took 79 minutes for the glamour boys to find the winning goal, which came through the industrious, Quality Kangadzi after he outpaced Godfrey Mukambi and beat Tsholotsho goal keeper Chang Mariyoni.

You rarely get exciting nil-all draws, but the Ngezi Platinum, Chapungu Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash at Baobab Stadium was a thrilling one according to reports.

It was a game that either side could have won with Ngezi Platinum dominating in the first half, while the second half was Chapungu’s.

Blessing Saunyama from Manicaland is the new Mr Iron Man after shrugging off competition from the other musclemen from all over the country who participated in the senior men bodybuilding contest held at the Bulawayo Theatre on Saturday night.

Last year’s winner, Nunurai Masosonere did not take part in the competition which saw Mr ZITF 2017 Lovemore Munyamana from Bulawayo occupying the second spot, while South Africa-based Ndumiso Dlodlo came third.

Sables run riot.

The Zimbabwe senior men’s rugby team, the Sables, ran out 64-3 winners over neighboring Zambia at Harare Sports Club on Saturday.

The Cyprian Mandenge coached side were using the match to prepare for their encounter against Senegal for the Africa Cup match scheduled for later this month.

International

The curtain finally came down on Europe’s top flight league with a scintillating final between Juventus FC and Real Madrid.

Forward Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as holders Real Madrid were crowned champions of Europe for a record 12th time after outclassing 10-man Juventus in a high-quality Champions League final in Cardiff.
