Tanzania’s Magufuli authorises ghost workers elimination

DAR ES SALAAM – President Magufuli has ordered the newly sworn in Region Commissioners (RCs) to make sure that they ensure the District commissioners and Municipal Directors are eliminating ghost workers within 15 days.

He said the same should be done also in various government institutions by the ministers while urging RCs to stop politicking in their respective regions.

Also he urged the commissioners to make sure that people especially the youth in their respective regions work instead of playing games in day time while leaving adult people to do ‘shamba’ works.

“People have to work, it is not possible and desirable to see the youth playing pool table in the streets during the working hours,” he said. The president has also urged the newly appointed RCs of the border regions such as Kagera, Katavi, Kigoma, and Mbeya to make sure that there is peace, security and tranquility in the regions.

“I don’t want to see people travelling by bus escorted by police, you can wonder why in Rwanda there is no robbery,” Mr President said.

He added: “I have appointed you from army to make sure these regions a free from thugs… you should go and finish this issue of robbery as fast as you can. “We want people to work and walk free as we have now more than fifty years of freedom.”
