Public Consultations on the 2016 National Budget

The Portfolio Committee on Finance and Economic Planning will be holding public consultations round the country next week, starting on Monday 5th October and ending on Friday 9th October, to gather the views of the public and stakeholders on the 2016 National Budget.  Public views gathered during the consultations will form part of the Committee’s report to be tabled at Parliament’s Pre-Budget Seminar which will be held at Victoria Falls from 30th October to 3rd November.  This Seminar provides an opportunity for MPs to meet Ministers and their senior officials and for the Portfolio Committee contribute to and influence the process of budget formulation and prioritisation.

These public consultations therefore give organisations and members of the public an excellent opportunity to ensure the Portfolio Committee is aware of public opinion around the country on these matters.

The committee will divide into two teams for the hearings:

Team 1 will cover Mashonaland West, Harare, Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East and Manicaland.

Team 2 will cover Midlands, Masvingo, Matabeleland South, Bulawayo and Matabeleland North
