Muzaeni pins hope on third album

Local and upcoming gospel artist, Willard Muzaeni is set to launch his third album in the capital this weekend which he says is a unique blend of various genres.

The 8 track album titled Nhaka Yekekunda will be launched at the United Methodist Inner city church on Saturday .

With two albums under his and virtually little known in the music genre currently being dominated by the like of Pastor Michael Mahendere, Blessing Shumba and Takesure Zama, Muzaeni is adamant that he will have something to smile about after the release of his new offering.

My music is different from the conventional gospel that we are used to. Mine is a blend of different genres and it cuts across all age groups that makes me very different.

“My last two albums did not do much in terms of airplay but I’m sure this time I have mastered the art of making myself recognized. I had deliberately remained underground but I’m ready to fight for recognition,” said the soft spoken musician.

Many believe in their time luck and it is the same for Muzaeni who believes, songs like Famba Neni, which is a plea to God to accompany his people wherever they go and Hapana which talks about nothing that can virtually separate God from his people, can reintroduce him to the gospel music fraternity and he say he is ready to sink his teeth and fight for honors regardless of the fierce competition.

For Muzaeni, financial problems, just like any other musician, are hampering progress in his works.

“A lot of financial hiccups have been a drawback to my progression but I think with enough marketing, I can still make it.

“On my previous works, I did not know much about marketing  thus I did not get much financial rewards, but now I know how to navigate the terrain so I hope to reap rewards from this new offering,” Muzaeni says while adding that gospel music should not be about making money but about preaching the word of God.

The album launch will be graced by high flying Minister Michael Mahendere of the Makanaka Jesu.
