Professor Jonathan Moyo’s lawyer, Terrence Hussein has sensationally claimed that his client is untouchable. This follows Moyo’s Constitutional Court application to suspend his prosecution until his rights have been determined in court.

In an exclusive interview with 263Chat, Hussein revealed that the Con-court has suspended the charges against the Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Minister.

“Professor Jonathan Moyo is now a free man, we made an application to the Con-court in the afternoon and the court has suspended all his charges. So for now, he is a clean man, he can enjoy his freedom, to put it in short, he is untouchable,” Hussein said.

He added that anyone who tries to take the matter up again would be in contempt of court.

However, Professor Moyo is likely to face new arrest as the state submitted proposal to Harare Magistrate, Vakayi Chikwekwe that he must be arrested following his failure to appear before court today.

“The accused disregarded the promise he made knowingly. He was arrested on the 2nd of November and he was expected to come to court today as required by law,” said Masuku.

Meanwhile Prof Moyo’s deputy Dr Godfrey Gandawa appeared at the Magistrates court facing charges of defrauding Zimdef as well as abuse of office. He was denied bail and will remain in custody to Saturday 5 November.
