Emergent Research To Hold The 2nd Edition Of The Financial Markets Indaba

Emergent Capital Management and Thomson Reuters will be hosting the second edition of the Financial Markets Indaba on the 18th and 19th of May 2017 at the Meikles Hotel in Harare. The star studded event will be led by a panel of influential guest speakers from Africa’s leading financial institutions, top government officials and upcoming players in the private sector.

The Indaba is a private sector led investment conference drawing more than 300 local and international delegates over a two day period. Third in a series of Zimbabwe focused investment forums, the Indaba is in its second year running.

The series are held annually in Harare and Johannesburg and soon to include London. The Indaba brings together over 50 speakers including more than 30 CEOs of banks, asset managers, academics, corporates and DFIs.

Some of the big names to grace the Indaba and lead in the conversations include Zimbabwe’s former Finance Minister: Dr Herbert Murerwa, former Reserve Bank Governor: Dr Gideon Gono, resident representative International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christian Beddies, George Manyere – CEO at Brainworks Capital, South Africa’s Rajen Pillay – CEO Guruda Finance, George Guvamatanga – MD Barclays Bank, Dr Lance Mambondiani – CEO Steward Bank, Dr Charity Jinya – CEO MBCA Bank Limited and leaders in Zimbabwe’s critical telecommunications sector.
Featuring 12 panel discussions including conversations with leading thinkers on Zimbabwe and Africa, the Indaba is convening some of the most extraordinary individuals with the Capital, Ideas & Influence to address investment and economic challenges affecting Zimbabwe and Africa.

Zimbabwe- finding new economic growth path?: In this intimate conversation with some of the most profound thinkers, attendees should expect an exciting discussion on the direction and steps that policy makers should consider to reboot the economy and set it on a sustainable growth trajectory.

Private Equity – where will returns come from?: Speakers are expected to discuss how the conventional drivers of Private Equity returns are evolving. They will also look at relative importance of sectors and deal sizes in generating returns.

Renewable energy – is Zimbabwe ready for private capital?: Investors complain that conditions that welcome private capital into renewable energy sector are not fully in place. This panel consisting of representative players of the sector discusses what it will take for private capital to actively finance projects. Speakers also identify impediments and progress made so far.

Evolution of Telco Industry- where are the next margins?: Telecommunications industry has experienced the most rapid change in the last 15years in Zimbabwe and worldwide. As the markets shift, only adaptive companies with a foresight of where the next opportunities lie are going to thrive.This panel of experts looks into the crystal ball for answers on where the next returns are in this fast evolving sector.
