Akbay Lays Into Bosso Players

Highlanders coach Erol Akbay angrily lashed out at his players’ poor performance in their Castle Lager premier soccer league 3-0 loss to log leaders Black Rhinos yesterday at Morris Depot stadium, describing their mistakes as stupid.

Bosso succumbed to their worst defeat this season in dramatic fashion as Lot Chiwunga grabbed a brace to silence a sizable Highlanders crowd who traveled to watch the match.

“We conceded stupid goals from their (players) stupid mistakes and there is no excuse to give for this loss.

“The goalkeeper (Ariel Sibanda) cost us those two goals and for a defender to launch such a tackle in the 12 yard box is stupid especially in Zimbabwe where our know referees are quick to point for a penalty,” said Akbay.

Sibanda failed to deal with Chiwunga’s header a few minutes to half time before spilling a shot onto the feet of Chiwunga who ensured Rhinos’ three points by grabbing a brace.

Tendai Ndlovu was adjudged to have felled the inform Chiwunga inside the 12 yard box by referee Norman Matemera.

“I want the boys to keep up the momentum. We are still running away from relegation and it is a good thing that we are matching up to these big boys in our league such as Highlanders, Dynamos and Chicken inn,” said Rhinos coach, Stix Mutizwa.
